When Your Mind Feels Foggy: 3 Gentle Ways to Choose Light Again

☀️ Hey friend,

Have you ever had one of those days when your mind just feels… foggy? Like the thoughts are there, but they won’t line up neatly? Simple tasks feel heavy, decisions seem overwhelming, and even though you want to feel motivated or peaceful, everything is a little blurry.

If that’s where you are today, sweet friend, please know you’re not alone. I’ve been right there too — days when my mind just wouldn’t cooperate and I felt stuck in the haze. On those days I’m learning it’s not the time to push harder. It’s the time to choose light gently.

The good news? God never leaves us in the fog. He meets us right where we are and offers simple, grace-filled ways to find clarity again.

Here are 3 gentle practices that help me when my mind feels foggy:

1. Pause and Be Still One of the most powerful things we can do is stop trying to “fix” everything right away. Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Find a quiet spot (even if it’s just two or three minutes), close your eyes, and take slow, deep breaths. Whisper a simple prayer: “Lord, I’m feeling foggy today. I choose to be still and remember You are with me.” The fog may not lift instantly, but choosing stillness creates space for God’s peace to enter.

2. Feed Your Mind One Small Truth When thoughts are scattered, trying to solve everything at once usually makes the fog thicker. Instead, feed your mind one small, nourishing truth. I love Nehemiah 8:10 — “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Write it down. Say it out loud. Let it be the one thing your mind holds onto today. You don’t have to feel joyful yet — just speak the truth and let God do the rest. Small truths, repeated gently, slowly push the fog away.

3. Reach Out for Encouragement We weren’t meant to walk through foggy seasons alone. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is let someone else speak light into our day. Talk to a trusted friend, join a prayer group, or reach out for coaching support. There is strength in community and in allowing others to remind us of God’s goodness when we can’t see it clearly ourselves.

Friend, foggy days don’t last forever. Even when your mind feels cloudy, you can still choose light — one gentle step at a time. God’s love for you is steady and clear, even when your thoughts are not.

If today feels heavy or unclear, I’d love to walk through it with you. A short coaching conversation can bring surprising clarity and encouragement. You can find me at SunnierLife on Premium.Chat whenever you’re ready.

You are seen. You are loved. And brighter days are coming. Choose Light today, even in small ways.

Obedient faith and loving your neighbor

2“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.

When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched,

Nor will the flame burn you.
Isaiah 43:2

Water is something used so many times in the Bible, like the Red Sea Crossing.  Like Peter having such faith he walked on water with Jesus until he lost his focus on the Savior.

Fire makes me think of the burning bush giving direction, and Daniel in the furnace and not being touched.

Time and again challenging life moments can bring us closer to God when we choose him.  We have free will, and it is up to us if we choose Jesus as our savior and redeemer.  With Him, we can walk through challenging times and not be overwhelmed and not b burned - because no matter what happens, we have God.  Here on Earth or in Heaven, we have victory over our enemies, struggles, and difficulty through Jesus.

So with Him, not only will you not be overwhelmed, or taken under by it but you won't be marked  by, or burned by it.  It will not be the end of you, if you choose God, obedience, love and faith with Him through belief in Jesus as our Savior. So we always have hope and love.

In free will, we also have direction and guidance to love our neighbor and to be kind and wise in how we treat ourselves and others.  In this, I take very seriously every opportunity God gives me to help anyone in any way.  Not only am I trying to love my neighbors, but to honor and love God by doing so.

I hope this comforts you today.

The Power of Gratitude: 3 Christian Life Coaching Actions That Transform Your Goals, Outlook, and Joy

Some days it’s easy to focus on what’s missing — the unanswered prayers, the struggles, or the things that didn’t go as planned. But what if the simple practice of gratitude could shift everything?

As a Christian Certified Master Life Coach, I’ve seen gratitude change lives in beautiful ways. The Bible tells us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude isn’t just a nice idea — it’s a powerful, faith-filled choice that reshapes our goals, our outlook on life, and our personal joy.

Research backs this up too. Studies show that people who regularly practice gratitude report higher life satisfaction, make more progress toward their goals, and experience greater overall joy. One well-known study found that after just 10 weeks of gratitude writing, participants felt significantly more optimistic and better about their lives. A 2023 meta-analysis even showed gratitude interventions increased life satisfaction by 6.86% and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Here are 3 simple, faith-centered coaching actions you can take today to grow in gratitude — and watch how it lifts your entire life:

1. Start a Daily Gratitude List When we intentionally name God’s blessings, our brains begin to look for more of them. Action step: Every morning or evening, write down three things you’re thankful for — big or small. Be specific: “I’m grateful for the warm coffee that reminded me of Your provision” or “Thank You for the friend who checked on me.” This small habit rewires your outlook from lack to abundance and gives you fresh energy for your goals.

2. Speak Gratitude Out Loud (Especially on Hard Days) Gratitude isn’t just thinking — it’s declaring God’s goodness, even when life feels heavy. Action step: When you feel discouraged, pause and say one thing you’re grateful for out loud. It could be as simple as “Lord, thank You for today’s breath” or “I’m thankful for the lessons in this challenge.” Research shows this practice builds resilience and increases personal joy, helping you stay motivated toward your God-given goals instead of getting stuck in negativity.

3. Share Gratitude with Others Gratitude grows when we pass it on. It strengthens relationships and creates a ripple effect of encouragement. Action step: Send a quick text, write a note, or tell someone in person why you’re thankful for them. It might be “I’m grateful God placed you in my life because…” Clients who do this regularly report stronger connections, a more positive outlook on life, and surprising momentum toward their personal goals.

Friend, gratitude doesn’t deny the hard things — it simply chooses to see God’s hand in the midst of them. When you practice it consistently, your goals feel more reachable, your outlook becomes brighter, and real, lasting joy begins to bloom.
